Full Specs and Extras Revealed for Scream Factory's DOLLS: Collector's Edition Blu-ray (Available 11/11)

I’m a big fan of Director Stuart Gordon’s work. His HP Lovecraft adaptations are almost certainly the best translations of the authors work that we’ve ever gotten (same with some of his Edgar Allan Poe-related material), and his films are always interesting. In particular, DOLLS, is one of his films that I have enjoyed since it frightened me as a young child when I first caught it on HBO one night.
With Scream Factory having recently announced that they will be giving DOLLS its first US Blu-ray release on November 11, the question wasn’t whether to buy or not (for me, at least), the question was, “What kind of awesome extras will we be getting?!” After all, the previous MGM DVD of the film is a barebones affair…

Well, Scream has given full details on the release - including the disc specs and all of the bonus content that will be featured – and, as expected, it’s pretty exciting.

If you’ve never seen the film, the official plot is as follows:
A precocious girl, her nasty parents, two punk-rock losers and a weak-kneed salesman inadvertently become the guests of two ghoulish senior citizens in their dark, haunted mansion. The old couple makes and collects dolls that, when not sitting still like good little mannequins, creep around in the night, offing the guests one by one! You may laugh at first, but if they turn on you, you'll regret it...for the rest of your short life!
The disc will be available as one of Scream’s “Collector’s Edition” packages on November 11, 2014, and it will feature newly commissioned artwork on the case and slipcover; with the original key poster art featured on the reverse.

DOLLS will be presented in its Original Aspect Ratio of 1.78:1 via a 1080p AVC-Encoded HD transfer. The audio will be presented in a lossless DTS-HD Master Audio track in the original 2.0 Stereo sound mix.

The full list of extras is as follows:
  • (New) Toys of Terror: The Making of DOLLS - An all-new retrospective featuring interviews with director Stuart Gordon, producer Brian Yuzna, stars Carolyn Purdy-Gordon, Ian Patrick Williams, executive producer Charles Band, and special make-Up effects artists Gabe Bartalos, and John Vulich and more!
  • Audio Commentary with director Stuart Gordon and writer Ed Naha
  • Audio Commentary with cast members Stephen Lee, Ian Patrick Williams, Carolyn Purdy Gordon and Carrie Lorraine
  • Storyboard-to-Film Comparison
  • Photo Gallery
  • Theatrical Trailer
You can Pre-Order the Blu-ray from Amazon now and receive it on release day.

Personally, I can’t wait to revisit the film and dig into those extras! Gordon is always interesting to hear speak about his work, and I’m sure this will be no exception.

For those interested, the full Press Release is included after the break.
