Scream Factory To Release Colombian Horror Film THE SQUAD On October 21st

My buddy, and podcast co-host, Shawn Savage (of The Liberal Dead) noticed a few days back that there was a pre-order up on Amazon for a Blu-ray for a film called THE SQUAD that showed as being  released by Shout/Scream Factory. Being a huge fan of both imprints, I was a bit surprised that I hadn't heard anything about it yet... Well, a day or so later, a press release showed up in my mailbox that made it all make sense, as the title is definitely coming to Blu-ray and DVD on October 21st, 2014.

I don't know much about THE SQUAD, beyond what is listed in the press release, as it is a contemporary acquisition for Scream. Based on the synopsis (included in the release below), it appears to be a Colombian military-horror film. The details have me interested, but honestly, at this point, I will blind buy any release from Scream Factory because I am an OCD completist, and I love their company.

The film will be available in separate DVD and Blu-ray releases with the below extras:

Special Features:
  • Theatrical Trailer
  • Behind The Squad (making of)
The full press release is included below, after the break.

“**** …Remarkably atmospheric and well-crafted horror film…” – Dread Central

“****…A terrifyingly tense nightmare.” – Billy Chainsaw, Bizarre

Los Angeles, CA – The horror curators at Scream Factory have announced an October 21 Blu-ray and DVD release of The Squad.

All contact with a military base high in the desolate wastelands of Colombia has been lost. The authorities – believing the base to have fallen to a terrorist attack – send a nine-man squad to investigate. When they arrive, the men discover a shocking scene of carnage and only one survivor: a mute woman in chains.

Gradually the isolation, the inability to communicate with the outside world and the impossibility of escape begin to undermine the sanity of the soldiers. They start to question the identity of their enemy and the true nature of the strange, silent woman. Is she a terrorist? A victim?  Or something more sinister? Something supernatural? Paranoia takes root. Prisoners of fear and the terrible secret they share, the men abandon their humanity and turn savagely on one another.

Special Features:
Theatrical Trailer
Behind The Squad (making of)

1080p High-Definition Widescreen (2.35:1)/DTS HD Master Audio /2011/100 minutes/Not Rated
