IFC Midnight has announced that they will be releasing the directorial debut of Joe Begos, ALMOST HUMAN, on Blu-ray and DVD on June 17, 2014.
The official synopsis of ALMOST HUMAN is as follows:
Two years ago, Mark Fisher (Josh Ethier, Contracted, Scavengers) disappeared from his home in rural Maine in a brilliant flash of otherworldly blue light. His friend Seth Hampton (Graham Skipper, upcoming in Dementia) was the last to see him alive. Now, Seth is having disturbing premonitions that Mark has returned as something other than human. When grisly, violent murders start taking place in the community, Seth and his girlfriend Jen Craven (Vanessa Leigh, The Last Halloween) discover that Mark is indeed back, and that there is something terribly evil inside of him.
Both the Blu-ray and DVD releases will come packed with the following Special Features:
- Audio Commentaries
- Full-length making-of feature
- A look behind the scenes
- Theatrical trailer
ALMOST HUMAN was an Official Selection at the Toronto International Film Festival, where it was acquired by IFC Films, who gave it a US theatrical run earlier this year.
The Blu-ray and DVD come with Suggested Retail Prices of $29.98 and $24.98, respectively. However, I'm sure that the discs will be on sale at Amazon during release week.
Personally, I really enjoyed ALMOST HUMAN, and I'm glad that IFC Midnight is giving it a proper home video release.
