Scream Factory Announces LAKE PLACID Collector's Edition Blu-ray for Summer 2014!

Who doesn't love movies with giant, man-eating crocodiles and a foul-mouthed Betty White (before she took the Internet by storm)? I know I do, which is why Scream Factory's surprise announcement today made me smile like a little kid who just walked into a candy store.

That's right, Scream Factory officially announced on their Facebook page that they will be releasing Director Steve Miner's (FRIDAY THE 13th: PARTS 2 & 3, HALLOWEEN: H20, etc) killer-croc flick, LAKE PLACID, this summer as one of their wonderful Collector's Edition Blu-ray Discs.

Direct from the source:
LAKE PLACID will be coming from us as a Collector’s Edition this Summer, which also marks its first time on Blu-ray! Released in 1999 and directed by Steve Miner (Friday the 13th Parts 2 & 3, Halloween: H20) this humorous take on the tried-and-true menacing reptile story stars Bridget Fonda (Single White Female), Bill Pullman (The Serpent and the Rainbow) and Oliver Platt (2012). Also notable, the film was written by famous TV Producer/Screenwriter David E. Kelley (Ally McBeal, L.A. Law, Boston Legal).

While we can’t provide a street date at this time, expect this to drop in Mid-Summer. Pre-order links should go up in sometime in April. Look for a full list of extras sometime in May. New key art is also coming soon too but the image you see here – the original theatrical poster – will be on the reverse.
Pretty sweet, huh? I've included that original poster in this post (above), and I'm sure their new art will be fantastic.

I'm actually one of the few who went to see LAKE PLACID on opening day, and while it's not a cinematic masterpiece or anything, I thought it was a lot of fun. I also picked up the film on VHS that year, and then again on DVD a few years later. So, I'll be happy to add a properly mastered Widescreen HD transfer of the disc to my collection, and I know the extras won't disappoint!

In the meantime, Scream Factory has a ton of new titles releasing, so you shouldn't have any problem keeping busy (like NIGHT OF THE DEMONS, WITCHBOARD, DARKMAN, SLUMBER PARTY MASSACRE, SLEEPAWAY CAMP, EVILSPEAK; just to name a few).

Did I mention how much I love Scream Factory?

Oh, also, how badass is this alternate poster from back in 1999? We just don't get stuff like this anymore...
